In runescape, does corrupt dragon items turn into ashes/dust?

i asked on Yahoo answers on where i can get the corrupt dragon longsword, and one of the answers said that they suck and they turn into dust or ashes or something like that. is that true? am i just spending 345k on ashes?

Never tried one, but I'd be curious to find out what the rule is.

Does the 30 min timer start when you equip, and stop when you are just carrying it? Or does it keep running?

Is the clock only running when you are actually fighting?

Can you examine it and determine how long its got left?

And most important, can you sell it on the GE after you've used it for 29 min?

I've never heard any answers for these questions, but I'd be interested to know. All this would help determine what these items are worth. Obviously, they are the best f2p fighting items, so rich folks will want them no matter what they cost.
