German Focke
If you could choose the most influential aircraft (singular or plural) of WWII, which would it be and why?
German, Japanese, American, whatever. For me, it was the
North American P-51, the B-19, the Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero, the Focke Wulf FW-190 and the Messerschmitt Me-262
Spitfire slipped my mind for some reason. Very good plane. It and the Hurricane definitely won the Battle of Britain.
The Spitfire - without which Britain would possibly have fallen to the Nazis.
The IL2-s - Sturmovik - the most produced military plane ever - without which the battles of Kursk, Berlin, and many in between would have been much harder for the Soviets
The P-51 - for its Merlin engine and it's range and speed
The Typhoon - another superb Hawker machine
The Lancaster - a magnificent plane - capable of carrying the largest and heaviest bombs of the war - 21ft, 12,000lbs.
The Mosquito - wood's last hurrah.
