April 1775: British troops left Boston and Massachusetts scout the countryside ... Why?

In the spring of 1775, Boston was under martial law. The port was closed to trade, and General Gage became the military governor Massachusetts. Massachuseets the Provincial Congress met in nearby Concord and periodically tried to organize the rebellion. Tensions Boil slowly continued until April 1775, when General Gage was ordered to take definitive steps to quell the rebellion more and more political. He chose to seize the provincial stores and ammunition in Concord. He figured that there could be no fighting, if the settlers had nothing to beat. .
